We’re hiring! GDF is looking for a new Field Researcher (Social Science) based in Morocco

We are looking for an exceptional full-time Field Researcher (Social Science) to join our team on a full-time basis to contribute to our multi-year ‘High Atlas Cultural Landscapes’ programme.  The position is ideally suited to early-career applicants and Post-Doctoral or Post Masters students.  The ideal candidate will be tasked with ensuring community engagement and delivering participatory action research on cultural practices of conservation, sustainable land use practices and ethnobotanical knowledge in High Atlas Amazigh communities. The candidate must be available for autonomous or team fieldwork amongst Amazigh communities in the High Atlas and be fluent in Amazigh. The ideal candidate will be able to work alone, with minimum supervision, and simultaneously a collaborative and communicative team-worker.

Key responsibilities:

  • Lead community engagement processes in Imegdale and Ait M’hamed.
  • Support the process of documenting cultural practices of conservation, sustainable land use practices and ethnobotanical knowledge in the High Atlas rural communes of Imegdale and Ait M’hamed
  • Communicate fieldwork outputs and processes with GDF-MBLA team
  • Capacity building of Community Researchers, community members and authorities, and cooperative members.
